Burdekin Machinery Preservationists 2025

If you have a passion for machinery or history, a visit to the Burdekin Machinery Preservationists is a must. Located in the Brandon Heritage Precinct, the group is made up of dedicated enthusiasts eager to share their impressive collection of historic machinery, tractors and mechanical artefacts with visitors and locals.

The precinct is also home to the John Tait Steam Gallery, Alf Shand Blacksmith Shop, Fielding Engine Shed and the Old Brandon Church, making it an engaging heritage experience in one convenient location. The most significant item on display is the 1911 Marshall Colonial tractor, the only remaining example of its kind in Australia.

Visitors can explore the site on a guided tour held on Mondays (except December) and on Wednesdays and Saturdays from April to September. Entry is by gold coin donation, helping support the ongoing preservation of the collection.

Allow time to chat with the knowledgeable volunteers, who are passionate about preserving the region’s mechanical history and are more than happy to answer questions about the machinery on display.
