Burdekin Machinery Preservationists 2025

Experience working heritage machinery, restored sugar industry equipment, guided tours and live demonstrations showcasing the machines that helped shape the Burdekin region at the Burdekin Machinery Preservationists Open Day. This family-friendly event offers visitors a unique opportunity to explore our local history in an interactive and welcoming environment.

  • Observe an impressive collection of historic machinery, including a steam traction engine and the rare 1911 Marshall Colonial tractor, the only one of its kind remaining in Australia.
  • The Tait Steam Gallery will operate from 9am to 1pm, with engine alternator sets from Kalamia and Inkerman Mills running at 10am, 11am, 12pm, 1pm and 2pm.
  • View the Alf Shand Blacksmith Shop, the Fielding Engine Shed, and the Old Brandon Church.
  • Watch the historic blast furnace and Gardner engine from 3pm.

Iron Works Brewery, located beside the Burdekin Machinery Preservationists, will be open for lunch from 1pm.

Whether you’re a machinery enthusiast, a local resident, a visitor, or a Grey Nomad travelling through North Queensland - we’d love to see you there.
