The Burdekin Sugar Rush is the signature running event for the Burdekin Road Runners and Walkers Club. It stands as the only formal running race held in the Burdekin, featuring a half marathon that serves as the official Athletics North Queensland Championship race. The event draws running enthusiasts from across the North Queensland region, as well as recreational runners and walkers who are beginning their health and fitness journeys. Competitors can choose from the half marathon (21km), ten (10km) or five (5km) kilometre course.
